Virginia’s game wildlife include bear, deer, rabbit and squirrel as well as dove, quail, ruffed grouse, wild turkey, woodcock, duck and geese.

For full details, contact the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.) - Bow & Blackpowder—Archery seasons typically begin about a month prior to firearm seasons, while blackpowder generally opens about two weeks in advance of centerfire rifle season.
- Fishing—Anglers can fish year-round in Central Virginia. Local lakes are home to smallmouth, largemouth, striped and white Bass. Area rivers and streams offer include populations of catfish, native trout, smallmouth bass, and even muskie.
